Recruiters in finance, support services and consultancy have received some welcome news with the results of a new monthly employment report.
The Job Creation Index (JCI), jointly created by Adecco and research firm Mandis, revealed that the number of jobs created in banking and finance in October rose 59% compared to the yearly average, while the number of jobs created in support services and consulting grew by 14%. Land and property appointments also rose in response to the continued house-buying boom.
However, the news was not as rosy across all sectors. Overall, the total number of jobs created in October was down 40% compared to the yearly average.
Richard MacMillan, managing director of Adecco UK, was encouraged by the number of jobs being created in certain sectors.
“This is a good barometer for permanent placements over the next three months – a significant number of these jobs will be filled by recruiters,” he said.
