Candidate feedback always brings something positive even if it's negative, Jobsite's marketing director Felix Wetzel told the Forum.

He said: "Following the development of Web 2.0, the next generation of jobseekers expect conversations and favour companies who provide them and enable them to pass on their experiences.

"A feedback loop increases the confidence of the candidate; it's low cost, easy to access the responses, gives good insight into your business and frees up resources."

Jobsite's candidate feedback system, RecruitRank, was developed after research revealed that candidates hated job hunting due to poor communications with recruiters.

Wetzel said blogs, forums, survey, emails focus groups and interviews are the best methods of feedback, although "email surveys can get stuck in spam filters, and focus groups can mean more expense".

Meanwhile CareerBuilder.co.uk's managing director Dave Smith advised the Forum how to get the best from advertising online. "Name the client, give the job title, list the benefits and tell the candidate how many employees the company has."

Smith said CareerBuilder.co.uk is experimenting with a new method of advertising positions on their partners' websites. "We take the headline of a job and sprinkle them randomly across the website; we are waiting to see how many clicks we get."
