Milton Keynes sees biggest job boost in a decade

New research has revealed that Milton Keynes has seen the strongest rate of employment growth in 10 years.

The study conducted by Centre for Cities found that Milton Keynes ranked above Portsmouth, Brighton, Derby and Southampton.
However, the most improved towns and cities tended to be in the north of England, the report noted.

Dermot Finch, director of Centre for Cities, said that perceptions of the north of England as being "grim" are being proved wrong. "Cities like Warrington and Doncaster are on the up, but need to sustain this momentum over many years if they are going to catch up with the likes of York and Milton Keynes," he says.

The research also revealed that some the country's largest cities need to address the "deep-rooted wealth inequalities" found there.
