The Department for Trade and Industry is to begin a 12-month crackdown on agencies which are breaking the law. A DTI spokesman said "Instead of investigating random agencies we will target types who we know are not complying."

The person would not say when the crackdown would start and what types of agencies would be targeted. The law in question is the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Regulations 2003.
