Clearstone names Driver of the Year

Clearstone, the driver training and recruitment specialist, has announced the results of its ‘Driver of the Year’ awards.

Aspray Transport driver, Tom Cross from Shropshire, was awarded the top prize for his excellent performance and all round professionalism at the finalists’ ‘practical test’ day held on the 16 October.

The runners-up trophy was awarded to the only female finalist, Carol Gladwin, a driver working for catering specialist 3663. Other finalists were Nick Smy, from Abingdon, also employed by 3663; Travis Fricker a driver for Wilts Wholesale Electrical; and John Hodder, a DHL driver on the Iceland contract.

Scott Feldman, marketing and PR manager for Clearstone, says: “The calibre of the drivers nominated for the awards was truly fantastic to see.

“Throughout the finals day it was evident that it was going to be a closely contested competition.  It has been really encouraging to see such high levels of professionalism and commitment to the industry throughout the competition. Delivering the goods we need on a daily basis is a job that is often overlooked. Hopefully these awards go some way to recognising the amazing people that we rely on for so many products we see in our shops and homes.”

Finalists were assessed in five categories, which included a driving test, theory test, vehicle walk round, customer service role play and an interview to assess their personality.
