Demand for hotel workers within London is increasing as overseas visitors flock to the UK, according to hospitality recruiter Towngate Personnel.

Research from Pricewaterhouse Coopers reveals London hotel bookings are up by more than 11% in the first five months of the year, while an international passenger survey carried out by national tourism agency VisitBritain reveals just under £4bn was spent by overseas visitors to the UK in the three months to May – an increase of 7%.

Towngate operations manager James Tucker says: “We have noticed an upturn in recruitment in London hotels, especially in the rooms side of the business where we are busy supplying candidates for both temporary and permanent positions in hotel reception and reservations.”

“It seems to us at Towngate Personnel that cultural tourism is a major factor and traditional cultural tourist centres such as Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bath and Oxford are all busy again this year.”
