The previously announced launch of a Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) sector group for online recruitment is now set to launch by June. REC chief executive Marcia Roberts revealed the plan to Recruiter in December. The estimated start date then was this month.

The group, to be made up of representatives from all aspects of online recruitment, will examine how online recruitment and recruiters interact.

Tom Hadley, REC director of external relations, told Recruiter: "We have an agreement to launch and a list of companies committed to the group. We expect it to launch in the second quarter of the year."

The need for the group was highlighted last week as recruiters alleged that large job boards sell their CV databases to both recruitment agencies and their customers. Some clients now refuse to accept CVs that have been sourced by agencies from the large job boards. The managing director of one agency said: "I don't have a problem with corporates advertising on job boards to obtain a direct response, but I do have a problem with them sourcing the same data as me."
