There will be a critical need for data security, disaster recovery and business continuity professionals over the next decade, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s Technology 2010 report.
Other trends highlighted in the report include:
- The increasing emergence of cloud computing
- Cloud computing data held to be accessible everywhere, while the growth of information storage is set to increase
- The Green Agenda will be taken up as manufacturers acknowledge the environmental demands on them and on society
- Rise in interaction with emergence of next generation of mobile communications and devices
- The arrival of virtual work and interaction with sales and marketing poised to exploit the potential for communication across social networking communities
- The big investment in broadband capability that started in the late 1990s will have been completed by 2020
- The growth of nano hardware, soft technology and pervasive computing will finally make an impact.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, says: “It is vital that the recruitment industry seriously reviews the far-reaching implications of the latest technological advances. Those that modify their business practices first are likely to be best placed to win more business.”
