De Poel plans to beef up sales team and expand into all sectors
10 September 2012

The independent managed service provider, specialising in both temporary and permanent agency labour recruitment, said it has won 11 contracts worth £58m since May. Customers include British Sugar (£2m), parcel firm NightFreight (£4m), waste management firm Fosca (£2m), TNT Post (£4.5m), charity Turning Point (£34m) and London Waste (£800,000).
Managing director John Simmonds told Recruiter: "There is no reason that we cannot take our solution in to every sector and we are beefing up our sales team to focus on individual sectors.
"We don't think there will be the same level of hostility towards us as there was when we first entered the market. There is more understanding about what we do, about the benefits we offer and that we do not damage the marketplace."
It has also had lead vendor wins with Somerfield, Sainsbury's, and TNT UK and TNT Post. It also has pipeline business, including contracts with support services firm OCS, parcel company CityLink and RR Donnelly.
De Poel says it will push for government contracts next year, but admitted that it was recently turned down from two tenders because it did not have enough relevant government experience.
The neutral vendor also told its recruitment agency partners that it wants to grow in the permanent market. It wants 13% of the revenue coming into the company to be from permanent recruitment, but currently it only has one customer.
Alison Harter, PermPort (de Poel's web-based vendor management solution) director, told the conference: "Customers do not have a clue where to spend their money because there are so many players in the permanent market. We are talking to all our existing customers about our permanent service."
Harter added that each customer will have several panels of agencies working to fill their vacancies, covering certain skills sets and locations.
