Burns: the iPhone app will make people better recruiters

A specially developed application that will help recruiters manage candidates and clients from an iPhone has been submitted for inclusion to Apple’s App Store.

Recruiter for iPhone/iPod Touch has been developed by Burnsoft, founded by Nik Burns, who worked as a recruiter for one of the top 10 agencies for 12 years and is currently contracting at a major financial organisation.

An iPhone user since it was available in the UK in 2007, he told Recruiter he came up with the idea when looking into ways of making recruiting more efficient.

“My iPhone is always with me and it’s full of my contacts but they weren’t in a manageable format. The idea was to provide an application that could help recruiters trawl through their e-contacts,” he said. “It’s very simple to use and I believe it will make people better recruiters because they can have the information they need to do their jobs in their pocket.”

Recruiters who are iPhone users can track candidates’ availability, rates and skills, call candidates and clients from within the application and attach call notes to them, which can then be emailed. It also provides recruiters with an instant snapshot of their percentage, total weekly or average margin. They can also see how many contractors are currently working for them and highlight when someone is nearing completion of a project.

“Basically, any scenario where the end date of a resource needs to be tracked,” said Burns. Future developments will include email templates using the iPhone’s new 3.0 firmware ability to cut and paste information into the application.

He explained that examples of this could be inviting candidates for interview and doing an ‘email shot’ to all candidates. “I want Recruiter to evolve based on users’ feedback to keep it useful and meaningful for them,” he said.

The application will cost £5.99 and future updates will be free. For more news on when it will be available at the App Store, visit
