City graduates mislead employers
Graduates looking for a job in the city are misleading employers, according to a new survey.
The survey, from employment screening firm Powerchex, found that 22% of applicants looking for a financial services job were guilty of CV discrepancies including lying about employment histories, university degrees and even criminal records.
The most honest graduates were maths students with only 6% lying on their CVs. And 14% of graduates from top universities were guilty of discrepancies compared with 43% of graduates who attended lesser known universities.
Alexander Kelly, managing director at Powerchex, told the Financial Times: “There appears to be a trend that the lower ranked the university the higher the likelihood of discprepancies on a CV.”
