Scottish oil and gas company Global Energy Group, who yesterday announced a deal that would bring 2,000 jobs to the company by 2015, has bought a 70% stake in Australian recruitment agency Global Resources Network, reports The Western Australian.

Global Resources Network recruits positions at all levels of seniority in the oil and gas industries.

An article in Recruiter magazine (October 19) highlighted the lack of technical and engineering skills in the UK.

Tim Evans, managing director of mergers and acquisitions advisory firm Boxington Corporate Finance comments: “This deal reflects a very real appetite we are seeing from a number of overseas energy services and engineering firms for acquisitions into the recruitment space as a way of securing better supply of scarce talent for their own projects as well as being able to offer their clients a wider service portfolio.”
