Survey finds that employers are using various methods to check the authenticity of applicants
Employers use up to seven different methods of checking job applicants, according to a study by IRS Employment Review.
The study found that alongside references from current and former employers, recruiters are carrying out Criminal Records Bureau checks, verifying professional and academic qualifications and investigating gaps in employment.
The survey found that while recruiters would still accept references by post, three out of 10 were happy to obtain an email reference, while four out of ten prefer telephone references.
