Industrial services firm Hertel has appointed David Massey as director of HR and communications.

Massey has worked in both the public and private sectors, most recently with AMEC where he spent time in Iraq involved in a reconstruction project, before returning to the UK as HR director.

He told Recruiter: “HR and staff development has a strong position in Hertel’s business strategy and my role will be to ensure that the business is well positioned to take the opportunities that develop in the engineering industry as the economy improves.

The FiveTen Group, whose stable includes WH Marks Sattin and Ortus, has appointed Adam Nicoll as head of marketing. The former Kinsey Allen International marketing director will be responsible for defining and developing FiveTen’s marketing, brand, and visual strategy.?Meanwhile, FiveTen has also appointed former BBC communications manager Monami Bose as group internal communications manager. Bose will oversee the employee communications strategy for FiveTen’s specialist recruitment brands.

Health and social care staffing firm HCL has announced the appointment of Miles Davis as managing director of BBL Medical, one of HCL’s doctors staffing businesses. Davis, who has 19 years experience in specialist recruitment, will lead BBL Medical’s expansion from specialising in psychiatry recruitment into a full service offering medical recruiter, covering doctors of all grades and specialties.

Recruitment-to-recruitment headhunting specialist Futura has promoted Tim Goodwin to associate director. Goodwin, who joined Futura in 2006 and has more than 10 years experience in headhunting and permanent recruitment, will be responsible for doubling the company’s growth within rec-to-rec services in the next two years.

Multi-sector recruiter gap personnel has appointed Lynne Grigg as finance director. Grigg, co-founder of low-cost airline Go, has spent five months in Singapore, helping to set up a new airline, Jetstar Asia, for Qantas, and worked on the Wizz airline launch in Hungary. Grigg was vice-president of finance for several international investment funds established by Ronald Lauder, of the Estee Lauder family, as well as spending five years with audit firm Arthur Andersen.

Former global chief executive at FiveTen Group Graham Palfery-Smith has joined the board of student-focused event staffing company Brightsparks Recruitment, as non-executive chairman. Palfery-Smith also joins the board of Palfery Productions as a non-executive director. Palfery Productions, run by Palfery-Smith’s son John, specialises in the production of visual digital media for recruitment companies.

Financial recruiter firm Goodman Masson has promoted Chris Porges to director of its temporary and contract business. Porges joined Goodman Masson as divisional director in October to build the temp and contract business across the commerce and financial services markets.

Commercial recruiter Jobwise has appointed Leanne Goodwin as managing director. Goodwin, previously a branch administrator, team leader, branch manager and area manager at Jobwise, takes over from Grant Barton who has been made chairman.

Food and facilities management services provider Sodexo US has promoted Derren Thompson to manager of diversity recruiting. Thompson will manage Sodexo’s Future Leaders Internship Programme as well as executing its diversity sourcing initiatives for both campus and targeted experienced hires. Thompson moves from senior recruiter supporting the education market and succeeds Michelle Robinson who was promoted to director, college & external relations.
