City jobs fall by 20%

Specialist recruiter Hays has revealed that permanent job placements in the City had fallen 20% in the last three months, the first time in five years that growth in UK temporary jobs is outstripping permanent roles.

Paul Venables, finance director at Hays, told The Times: “The shift to temporary workers illustrated the nervousness of the UK economy.
"I don't have a crystal ball, but clearly it is worse now than it was six months ago and it's not getting any better."
