Candidates fail to prepare_2
Lack of preparation and research by candidates are the most common interview failings, a new survey of employers from Stafffinders recruitment agency has found.
“There is no excuse in this internet age, with the corresponding mass dissemination of facts, figures and PR fluff, for any candidate not to be able to prepare fully for interview by apprising themselves of enough background information on their suitor,” said Stafffinders managing director Jane Wylie-Roberts.
The Stafffinders survey found that the candidates viewed positively by employers present themselves well, listen carefully to questions and answer honestly. They do not make salary demands, negative statements about their current employer, or overblown assessments of their own value.
The survey from the Glasgow-based agency also found that employers thought that candidates applying through recruitment consultants were better prepared for interview.
