Businesses struggle with law_2
A majority (77%) of employers admit they are struggling to keep up with changes in employment law, according to research Consult GEE.
It found 57% of employers are unaware of that the Disability Discrimination Act applies to all companies.
It discovered that 36% of employers are unaware that women are eligible for ordinary maternity leave as soon as they start working for a company.
Consult GEE’s Stuart Chamberlain says: “The government continues to push through a staggering level of changes to employment law, so it is not surprising that so many businesses are finding it difficult to cope.
“For small companies that don’t have their own HR managers or in-house lawyers, the pace of change can be extremely daunting.”
The research questioned business leaders on basic employment law and found that they only got an average of 66% of questions correct.
