British Airways: no plans to hire temps
13 September 2012
British Airways has no plans to follow Royal Mail’s lead and recruit temporary workers, should a ballot approve strike action.
The Unite union is to ballot its members over industrial action regarding a dispute about the introduction of a package of measures, including contractual changes without the agreement of the cabin crew and the union.
A BA spokesperson told Recruiter: “We have no plans to replicate Royal Mail’s action. We are urging Unite to withdraw from its plans and resume discussions with us. They have talked about a ballot but a ballot is just that - it is not industrial action in itself. It is too premature to be looking at strike action dates.”
