An applicant for a van driver position at a new B&Q in Norwich was astonished when he was expected to dance. A panel of judges from the firm made him and six others go through an X-Factor style audition to become a van driver. Rodney Southern said he felt “humiliated” when the panel of nine managers told him and six others in the group to start pulling faces, which they photographed. The group was then asked to dance around to the Jackson 5 hit Blame It On The Boogie. “If I had not needed a job so badly I would not have done it. I was there for two-and-a-half hours for that.” However, Southern's dancing skills were not up to standard — his application was unsuccessful.
