The Body Shop looks for values and passion
More than 150 delegates attended Recruiter’s inaugural Smart Resourcing conference in London on 22 September
Balancing high commerciality with ethics is the tricky equalizer The Body Shop must achieve in attracting potential employees, said Alex Snelling, the beauty chain’s international recruitment and talent director.
Founded by the late Anita Roddick in 1976 and acquired by L’Oreal in 2006, The Body Shop has always been associated with ethically sourced and produced products and trade practices.
In The Body Shop’s “recruiting with values” approach, successful candidates must demonstrate that they are “individuals, willing to stand up for what they believe in” and commitment to a cause. “We’re looking for passion, not a particular cause,” Snelling said. “It’s putting values into action.”
