Bechtel wins Crossrail contract

Network Rail has named Bechtel as its delivery partner for £2.3bn of work on the £16bn Crossrail scheme and the Reading station upgrade project.

Network Rail has named Bechtel as its delivery partner for £2.3bn of work on the £16bn Crossrail scheme and the Reading station upgrade project.

The announcement comes after the US engineering company had won the contract for delivery partner on the central tunnelled section and to manage the construction of the central section of the project.

Tom Nixon, operations manager at engineering staffing specialist EPCglobal, which is an approved supplier of Bechtel, told Recruiter: “Crossrail is a priority project for us so it’s good to finally get the announcement after a two week delay. We anticipate thousands of positions being created over the next few years and plenty of interest from engineers keen to be involved in the UK’s most significant project since the Channel Tunnel.”
