Auditing roles

Women are at a disadvantaged in City auditing roles

A survey by Longbridge Search & Selection has found women in auditing roles earn 5% less, on average, than men doing the same job.

The average annual salary for women was £65,189, compared to £68,492 for men.

The survey also shows the amount of women going to audit roles is disproportionately low when compared to their male counterparts, with only 25% of auditors moving to in house roles in the City being women.

John Lacey, managing director of Longbridge Search & Selection, commented:
“We may be seeing fewer women going for senior in-house roles because of the perceived “City boy” culture of banking.  But in spite of the growing number of women at the top we’re still not seeing enough of a balance between the sexes moving into these roles."
