Artificial intelligence (AI) is proving to be a highly effective recruitment tool, with the technology demonstrating that it can bring cost and efficiency benefits as well as improve the quality of recruits.
By using Activ8’s AI recruitment system (AIR), financial services company Legal & General has increased its rate in hiring top performers from 43% to 80% (previously only three out of seven hires were suitable when matched against the ideal profile) and reduced time to make a hire by 30%.
Activ8’s technology, which recently won the DTI and BT Technology Innovation Award, analyses data from a range of sources, including psychometric testing and other assessment methods, and maps it against ideal profiles, which take in character and behavioural traits as well as performance and skills-related information.“Recruiters are understanding the potential benefits even they don’t fully understand the detail of how it works,” said Laurence Collins, managing director of Activ8, who adds that the technology can also be employed by job boards to predict which vacancies are most suitable for a candidate. He has already worked alongside recruitment agencies, but believes the tech- nology could pose a threat to traditional recruiters. “If they can’t differentiate their service offering, there may continue to be a cloud over the return on investment they bring,” he said.
Kelly Services has been working with Activ8 for some time in conjunction with one of its major clients. Managing director Chris Moore believes the predictive technology has imp- roved the quality of candidate fit when used as part of its own recruitment jtfphotography.co.ukand selection processes. “This has enabled us to provide employees, directly to our customer, safe in the knowledge that we can accurately predict how they are likely to perform once in the specified role,” he said.
“In our experience, if candidates are effectively matched to the appropriate vacancy, they are much more likely to perform to the required standards, and stay in the role for much longer.”
