Agencies or direct employers recruiting for the Australia and New Zealand markets can now access Hays’ annual salary survey via a mobile app for the first time.

Hays has published the survey since 1976 and Jacky Carter, managing director for Asia Pacific, told Recruiter that producing it as a mobile app
was a natural progression. She said that it was likely that Hays will also put the medium to other uses. “We have a number of fantastic ideas on the table for an app and one in particular will give a new dimension to the way that people view the advice they get from a recruitment consultancy,” she added.

The salary information, based on what companies have paid for more than 500 positions across all sectors in the last 12 months, is valued by both candidates and clients and in the first 24-48 hours there were more than 1,500 downloads.

Typically, the pdf version of its salary information is downloaded half a million times, she says. “It’s not easy to get this kind of data,” said Carter. “A lot of enquiries we have are from people looking to recruit in Australia but who don’t have offices or knowledge of the market there. This provides global access to anyone with an international interest in hiring in that region.”

The Asian version of the app featuring data on Japan, China, Singapore and Hong Kong will be available later this year.
