Ambulance service launches recruitment drive

Shropshire’s ambulance service is launching a massive recruitment drive in the new year as it prepares to take on more than 150 new emergency care assistants across the region.

West Midlands Ambulance Service Trust - responsible for ambulance cover in the county - needs to recruit more staff to meet rising demand for 999 services, with calls up by an extra six per cent on last year and on some days even 20% above average.
Managers say the new positions equate to an increase of more than five per cent in the number of Accident and Emergency crew members across the region.
