Accountancy staffing specialist Alexander Lloyd has seen a 113% increase in registered vacancies during the first quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.

The figures mark a significant improvement on data from January to June 2009, which showed a severe drop in job flow, with March ’09 performing at 37% under the average, with no marked improvement and pick up of vacancies until the later summer months.

Karen Cole, commercial director at Alexander Lloyd, says: “The market is picking up and showing real signs of recovery, especially in the mid-level interim and permanent recruitment markets.

“Companies are not just standing still, many are growing their teams and creating new positions. This is a key sign that they now have the confidence to move forward, and strategically develop their business further.”
