Albany deal expected over next few days

Following the collapse of Albany’s UK arm, the joint administrators are close to selling off a number of the group’s foreign businesses.

Following the collapse of Albany’s UK arm, the joint administrators are close to selling off a number of the group’s foreign businesses.

John Alexander, a partner at chartered accountants Carter Backer Winter, and one of the joint administrators, told Recruiter that he had received offers from a number of offers from interested parties.

“Negotiations on a formal agreement are ongoing in some cases, and we expect the first agreement to be completed over the next few days,” he said.

Alexander added that he was also in discussions with interested parties in taking over some of Albany’s UK contract book.

Alexander said he couldn’t yet say yet how much Albany owed, nor how much contractors or agencies would get of the money due to them when Albany’s UK companies went into administration in February.

“That depends how successful RBS is in collecting money owed to it as it is entitled to do under the invoice discount arrangement, and on what we manage to sell of the business.”
