British Computer Society reveals that the number of students studying IT has declined by a third in four years
The IT industry needs to act now or there will not be enough qualified graduates to meet demand of UK industry, according to the president of the British Computer Society.
In an interview with BBC News Professor Nigel Shabolt said that the sector’s problems are partly due to poor teaching of the subject and the industry’s “geeky” image.
Shabolt also released previously unpublished research which shows that in the past four years demand for IT and computer graduates has doubled, while at the same time the number of students studying the subject has declined by a third.
