Acre Resources: Opportunities abound for all recruiters in green revolution

The UK’s green jobs revolution will create jobs across a number of sectors, not just in energy, according to Ben Cartland, associate at Acre Resources.

The UK’s green jobs revolution will create jobs across a number of sectors, not just in energy, according to Ben Cartland, associate at Acre Resources.

Last month, Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced an innovation fund of £150m which will be used to gain private sector investment in biotechnology, life sciences, low carbon technologies and advanced manufacturing.

Cartland told Recruiter that it would not just be ‘green’ recruiters that benefit.

“Part of the problem is determining what is a green job. Is a secretary working in a wind turbine company a green worker? I think there is a lot of difficulty around the terminology of what a green worker is.

“I still think you can be bright green with a knowledge of influencing strategy towards renewable energy and then you have say someone working in an HR function with a buying position. That is part of the difficulty. There is massive support needed for these type of companies. Anyone working for these companies is classed as a green worker.”
