Professional staffing specialist Robert Walters has seen “sustained” recruitment activity within Ireland’s financial sector, according to its Q2 market update.

The update reveals sustained recruitment activity during the second quarter in the financial sector, with positions recruited predominantly in risk and compliance within banking and insurance organisations.

According to the statement: “This activity was driven by increasing demands from the regulatory authorities and industry specific factors, such as Solvency II, resulting in greater demand for risk professionals with 10+ years’ experience particularly in capital/regulatory and market risk environments.

“A number of specialist advisory firms expanded their operations leading to increased opportunities in the wealth management sector. The funds sector remained buoyant as a number of firms announced plans to establish an Irish presence or expand existing operations.

“As a result, opportunities for candidates with three to five years’ experience in valuations, investor services and trustee/custody areas were strong.

“Hiring activity in the insurance and reinsurance sectors remained relatively subdued throughout quarter two; however part and newly qualified actuaries continued to be in demand for Solvency II projects.”
