Health and social care recruitment agency Pulse has clinched two major NHS Trust contracts worth £15m a year.

The three-year deal, which launches in May, will see Pulse manage flexible staffing requirements for University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Richard MacMillan, Pulse's chief executive, said the award makes the company the UK's leading independent provider of healthcare bank staff management services.

MacMillan told Recruiter: "We have technology that makes flexible staffing more efficient, and we are prepared to invest in resources.

"There is an increased demand for flexible staffing in healthcare services, for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals such as physiotherapists."

The NHS' new 18-week pathway target — the new patient waiting time target — is contributing to demand for staff, he added.
