Starting the week is always a drag, but now it appears that cars get the Monday morning blues too.

A survey by breakdown firm the AA found that cars were more likely to break down on a Monday than any other day. Seven of the AA’s 10 busiest days last year were Mondays, and all 10 were in the winter months.

One of the worst Mondays the AA has experienced was 5 January this year, when many commuters were returning to work after the Christmas break. It attended more than 22,000 breakdowns in freezing conditions as angry workers’ motors failed to start.

The AA’s quietest day of the week, not surprisingly, was Sunday, the survey revealed.
