UK heads list of late payers
28 August 2012
Average of 27 days to pay bills
UK businesses are the worst late payers in Europe, despite legislation to encourage the speedy settling of accounts, according to a new report by Experian.
Its analysis reveals that UK firms take on average 27 days longer to settle invoices compared with just 10 in France and eight in Sweden.
This is despite legislation introduced in 1998 aimed at encouraging better payment practice by allowing firms to claim interest on late invoices.
