Recession leaves its mark
Over half of UK workers feel insecure in their jobs, despite record levels of employment, according to the results of a survey by jobs board Monster.co.uk.
Only 15% of the 2,000 people polled felt their jobs were secure, while 14% believed that they were at threat from redundancy. A further 39% said that although they had a job they did not feel it would last.
According to Monster, its findings show that despite the economy picking up, the last recession has taken its toll: the public remain sceptical about the stability of labour market and are not as confident as they were during the pre-downturn period.
Joe Slavin, managing director of Monster.co.uk, said: “People can certainly have a lot more confidence in the job market now compared to this time last year.
"We are seeing companies steadily hiring more and more every month, and this is highlighted in the healthy national employment figures."
