REC IT group conference

First annual event

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC’s) IT and Communications group’s first annual conference has been billed as the ‘broadening of a theme’ by the group’s chairman.

The full-day conference at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel on Wednesday 28 September from 9.30am is open to all, and brings together recruiters who specialise in permanent and contract roles in IT and communications.

Jeff Brooks, IT/comms group chairman for the REC, says the event is a natural progression.

“People want good feedback, and I think they have had it from our quarterly afternoon sessions,” he said. “It’s the broadening of a theme rather than a new development.”

The event will include guest speakers Andrew Pinder, a former government consultant on IT; John White, head of technology at Royal Bank of Scotland; and demographic change expert Richard Scase.

Delegates can take part in workshops on the day and there will also be a chance to share their views during a panel discussion.

REC chairman Richard Barfield (pictured), who is speaking at the event, said: “This is the ideal opportunity for IT and comms specialists to discuss the key issues affecting the industry such as the emergence of managed programmes and successfully tendering for large contracts.”
