Poppy plan hit by criticism
SJC Recruitment's decision to use charity donations in a promotion has met with criticism from the industry.
SJC Recruitment's decision to use charity donations in a promotion has met with criticism from the industry. SJC offered to donate £11.11 to the Poppy Appeal for every job vacancy it received on Monday November 13.
One agency told Recruiter: "It's left a bitter taste in my mouth. I think that it is a dreadful situation that a company is trying to make money from Remembrance Day. If they wanted to donate money to this cause, then fantastic and well done. But to do it on the back of an email promotion is dreadful."
However, SJC managing director Sara Child told Recruiter: "We want to give money to a charity. It was not supposed to be in bad taste, but I can understand why it could cause offence and I apologise."
