Pensions put pressure on wages
30 August 2012
Employers are raising staff contributions or cutting back benefits
The rising cost of running finals salary pension schemes is leading to employers squeezing their total wage bills, according to a report by Aon Consulting.
The research found that 49% of employers have raised staff pension contributions or cut other benefits instead. It found 48% of employers believe this trend will continue.
A spokesman says: “They are also clawing back money elsewhere, such as paying less to new joiners.”
