Oxfam changes tack
Oxfam is targeting corporate high-fliers in a recruitment drive to fill a number of key country programme managers jobs around the world.
With adverts running in the Financial Times and Daily Telegraph, the campaign represents a significant change in Oxfam’s recruitment policy, which has previously targeted managers from non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Among the vacancies are posts in Bangladesh, North Sudan and Zimbabwe. The move comes after high-fliers such as Natasha Quist (pictured), who had previously worked for organisations such as Nike, Disney and Salomon Brothers, successfully transferred into Oxfam.
Quist, who is now regional director for West Africa, said she was still using the same skills as she used in her last role as director of strategic planning at Nike. “I know about people and that’s my strength,” she said. “Now that I’ve been with Oxfam for a number of months, I’m convinced that I’ve made the right move.”
