IT recruitment firm Omnium IT has been awarded preferred first supplier status by energy giant Powergen.

Omnium and IT staffing firm Iffner will introduce and supply permanent IT staff to Powergen.

The framework agreement, or contract between two parties which has pre-agreed terms and conditions, will run for 12 months with the option of a further extension.

Katherine Brough, procurement manager at Powergen, said: “As a result of a recent tender undertaken by Powergen for a managed IT recruitment service, both Omnium’s and Iffner’s response assisted in the decision to appoint them as our permanent IT recruitment providers.”

Rosanne Meek, director of the Midlands-based IT recruitment consultancy, said: “We’re absolutely delighted. It’s a bit like David and Goliath. Omnium has been going for five years and has managed to become quickly established in its market. We have formal relationships with a number of large blue-chip clients and this contract consolidates this, particularly in the energy field.”
