One in three working adults worry that they won't have enough money to live on in retirement, according to research by Which? Money. Only one in eight feel confident they will be comfortable when they stop work. In reality the situation is much worse. Those surveyed thought they'd need about £312 a week after tax to live on when they retire. With the basic state pension worth just £84 a week you'd need a private pension of at least £228 a week after tax on top. You'd need to save £163 a month from the age of 25. Even if your employer matches your contributions, you'd still need to find £92 a month.

According to a recent survey, accountants are content with their chosen vocation but not necessarily with their current firms. The survey, by the UK's financial jobs website www.totallyfinancial.com, asked accountants if they were happy with their chosen career. An overwhelming nine out of 10 respondents said that they were happy to be an accountant. However, almost half (47%) said that they were looking to move jobs within the next 12 months. "Firms need to explore the reasons why half their accountants are looking to leave within the next year," said Bernard Howard, MD of www.totallyfinancial.com.

Oilandgasjobsearch.com, the job site dedicated to the worldwide oil and gas industry, is approaching two landmarks. On 19 January, the 100,000th candidate registered their details on the website. And oilandgasjobsearch is also close to logging its 100,000th oil and gas job. To celebrate this, a cash prize will be sent to the person who posts the 100,000th job. The number of jobs currently stands at 95,500 and about 8,000 jobs are posted on the site every month. So the lucky recruiter will be posting the winning job in about two weeks.
