NOW helps get homeless back to work
NOW Recruitment is backing a new workplace scheme that will give homeless people an opportunity to re-train and gain further employment.
Over the last eight months, 11 disadvantaged people from Tyneside Cyrenians, a Newcastle based charity that specializes in helping the homeless, have been taking part in a new ‘back to work’ building scheme project.
The re-training project was launched as a move to encourage a group of residents at the Cyrenians to build their own residential home and, through this opportunity, there would be the chance to gain a real work experience and get back to work.
NOW’s Nikola Pattinson says: “This initiative has been carefully planned to give practical work experience to develop new skills and to help encourage disadvantaged people back into the work place.”
The team now have all the relevant Health & Safety documents, the sought after Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card and work experience.
