More than a third of people will start the New Year by looking for a new job, according to the latest results of a poll by online recruitment site Monster.co.uk.

A further 26% of those said they were hoping to quit their current jobs within the UK and find a different one overseas.

Despite reports that the UK is enjoying almost full employment, a quarter of respondents said they were actively seeking work since they were currently unemployed.

Only 7% were hoping to win promotions this year and 2% said their goal was simply to keep their job.

A total of 2349 people responded to the question posed by Monster.co.uk and the results collated by the Monster Meter. The Monster Meter is a series of online polls that measure jobseekers’ opinions on various issues relating to the workplace.
