Developing specialist markets is a top priority for Chris Moore, who took up the UK managing director position at Kelly Services this month.

Moore's promotion, from operations director, saw Catherine King, who had been doing the job on an interim basis following the death of Chris Kelly from cancer last year, return to the company's US headquarters in Michigan.

"There are certain sectors of the market we want to develop," Moore told Recruiter in an exclusive interview. "These include finance, science, education and IT, which we will be launching later this year."

Kelly has limited IT presence through its engineering part of the business, but Moore says it plans to specialise more in IT in 2007.

"It's mainly about getting the balance right," suggests Moore. "High-volume or low-volume, temporary or permanent, specialist or generalist."
