Money is key motivator for EU workers

Survey finds family and job satisfaction

Almost half of European workers work for money, rather than their family, according to a recent poll by Monster.

In the UK, 54% regarded money as the sole motivator, followed by the Irish with 53%, Belgians with 52% and Luxembourgers with 50%. German and French respondents showed results of 46% and 42% respectively.

Steve Pogorzelski, group president of Monster Worldwide, says: “Everybody works for different reasons and no matter who you are, or where you are in your career, it's important to ensure that your employment is the right fit for you as an individual.”

However, the poll found for some job satisfaction is a key motivator when it comes to what they work for.  It found 22% of workers in Luxembourg put job satisfaction first above family, closely followed by 21% of Belgian workers polled. 19% of German respondents feel this is as important as working for family, 17% of French workers, 14% of Irish workers and 13% of British workers also agree.
