MCL expelled from REC
Recruitment agency expelled after temp complains about not being paid
Manchester-based MCL Recruitment has been expelled from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) for breaching its Code of Practice.
The expulsion stems from a complaint to the REC’s Professional Standards department from a temporary worker who stated that he had not received payment for hours worked.
MCL Recruitment was contacted both verbally and in writing on a number of occasions by the REC but failed to provide a response to the complaint and to co-operate with the complaints and disciplinary procedure. MCL was then given the right to appeal against the expulsion decision but no appeal was made within the timescale given.
Phil Westwood, chair of the REC’s Professional Standards Committee, says: “When joining, all members must adhere to our Code of Practice. This was not the case in the present instance, which is why the committee unanimously recommended the expulsion of MCL Recruitment from REC membership.”
