The number of IT vacancies for both permanent and contract work rose dramatically in the first three months of this year, suggesting that the IT recruitment market has finally emerged from its long spell in the doldrums.

The latest quarterly index from recruitment website CWJobs and SSL found permanent vacancies rose 26% compared with the same period last year, while the number of contractor jobs available grew 23% during the same period.
