Iraq is recruitment hotspot
Iraq is emerging as one of the fastest growing regions for recruitment as companies offer six-figure sums to workers needed to help rebuild the war-torn country.
Global recruitment website Monster is carrying job ads from companies wanting to tempt workers with huge pay cheques to ply their trade in Iraq. The country currently has nearly 70 positions available on the ‘global search’ section of Monster’s website.
Joe Slavin, managing director of Monster UK, told Recruiter: “Iraq has been the biggest growth area for us this year. We are continually getting postings to help with the infrastructure of the country.”
Most of the jobs are large-scale construction and project managers, engineers and planners. One job as a project accountant for a global food service organisation is offering up to $120,000 (£65,000) a year.
The advert promises: “Along with a competitive tax-free salary, the successful candidate will enjoy a generous benefits package within an employer committed to finding world class people for the most challenging business locations in the 21st century.”
Monster is also carrying job ads for electricians, carpenters and plumbers. However the average tradesman need not apply. Bachelors degrees are mandatory.
