Interview still king of employee assessment

Study finds interviews remain popular in the recruitment process

Interviews remain the most common form of assessment used by UK organisations, according to an investigation by Reed Consulting.

It found that traditional methods of assessment, including application forms and interviews are still the tools used most commonly by the majority of employers.

However, the report says the results point to a growing awareness of the need to ensure that assessment processes are both reliable and defensible.

Reed Consulting’s report discovered that employers rate final stage interviews and structured interviews as the most reliable tools for selection and recruitment.

It found that 57% of employers had made incorrect hiring decisions based on the assessments they had used.
