Driver Hire’s Leeds (East) office is putting its van drivers through a Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) course.

The course takes drivers on a 16-mile trip that roughly replicates a delivery run. A SAFED trainer monitors the way the driver drives and then the route is driven again with the driver using SAFED techniques.

General manager Vicki Grayson (pictured) says: “Backed by the Department for Transport, SAFED ensures that all our van drivers achieve a higher standard, the benefits of which are passed on to our clients.

“SAFED trained drivers are more fuel efficient and less likely to have an accident, both huge plus points for any employer.”
