HR staff aren’t staying around

Four in five looking to change jobs

Most HR professionals don’t see themselves finishing their career in the industry, new research suggests.

Hudson, a recruitment and HR consultancy, found that 79% of HR workers plan to change jobs. The company surveyed more than 2,500 employees from firms across the UK on their job expectations.

It seems a job for life in HR is a thing of the past, with 52% wanting to become a ‘serial careerist’.

And half of those interviewed believe interim recruitment will become a more popular choice. Only a fifth (21%) expect to remain in HR for the rest of their career.

Mark Carriban, managing director of Hudson, said: “It’s worrying that so many HR professionals are considering how they exit the profession, particularly when HR is beginning to be recognised for the impact it can make on business.”
